New Stars of the Fashion Jewellery and Accessories Industry Finally Unveiled

Since the Asian Fashion Jewellery & Accessories Design Competition 2006 was so well-received, CMP Asia organised the second edition of the competition this year, continuing its efforts to encourage designers in Asia to embrace their imagination and utilise their creativity in fashion jewellery design.

The Organiser invited representatives from the Hong Kong Fashion Designers Association, the Institute of Clothing & Textiles of Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Elle Hong Kong / Elle Accessories, Asia's Fashion Jewellery & Accessories Review and CMP Asia Ltd to act as the Final Judging Panel for the competition. Italina (HK) Imitation Jewellery Mfg Ltd, as production sponsor of the Amateur Category, assisted the finalists of the Amateur Category in producing the finished fashion jewellery pieces.

The final judging of the Second Asian Fashion Jewellery & Accessories Design Competition was completed on 15 May 2007. Based on the saleability, originality, beauty, wearability, creativity and workmanship of the finished fashion jewellery pieces, the Final Judging Panel selected the Gold, Silver and Bronze Award winners in the Professional and Amateur Categories respectively. The winners of the Awards are as follows:

Professional Category
Gold Award: Gil Z.C. Carungay, Avatar Accessories Incorporated, the Philippines
Silver Award: Siriwan Panthong, F And R Jewellery Co. Ltd, Thailand
Bronze Award: Maria Shella E. Montecillo, Anjo Accessories, Inc., the Philippines

Amateur Category
Gold Award: Cheng Sui Kam, Hong Kong
Silver Award: Zhao Yan, mainland China
Bronze Award: Au Chung Yin Stella, Hong Kong

Each winner in the Professional Category will receive a certificate and a trophy. For the Amateur Category, winners will receive not only a certificate and a trophy, but also a scholarship of from US$500 to US$1,500. The winning pieces will be showcased by catwalk at the Design Competition Awards Presentation Ceremony to be held during the Cocktail Reception of Asia's Fashion Jewellery & Accessories Fair on 21 June 2007. In addition, all final entries will be displayed at AsiaWorld-Expo during Asia's Fashion Jewellery & Accessories Fair (21 to 24 June).
